MMMMMM....Mangoes

Champagne Mangoes to be precise. They are certainly not local and not organic either but they are definitely worth breaking the rules to try. Buy some now. Found mine at Whole Foods, 2 for $3.00. These yellow mangoes are silky soft, sweet and fragrant and don't get stuck between your teeth the way the more commonly found green/red variety does.

Izzy and I cannot keep away from them. He would eat one a day if I let him but I only bought six so I have been trying to make them last the whole week. If they have them this week I think I will be grabbing at least a dozen. We eat them as is, in smoothies, on top of yogurt and I am envisioning a vanilla-mango pudding.

Why spend all that money for non organic? Go to one of the Korean grocers on Newark Ave. The price is a lot better and the quality is probably better too.

i also got mine at WF, and they barely lasted the day. i think we are mildly obsessed. but they are sooo good! and packed with Vit C, so no guilt!

Anonymous: I am uncertain as to whether or not they were organic but I am certain they were of stellar quality and I happened to be at WF already. I rarely shop at the Korean grocers anymore. How much are they there?

JoanieL A perfect snack!

Never over a $1 for the mangoes at the Korean grocers. And sometimes they are outstanding! Why aren't you using these stores? If you know what to look for, they are fantastic!

I generally don't use those stores because of their lack of organic or local produce. I frequented them more when Izzy was a baby and I wandered the neighborhood with him in his stroller, I would stop in to pick up something missing from my dinner menu. Now that he is in school, I spend my time differently and mostly pick up produce during my regular jaunts into the city.

Oh. Well it's always great to support local business. Imagine if they went out of business. What would go in their place?
